Sheryl Crow "Spiritual Twin" Busted

All Sheryl Crow wants to do is ditch her "spiritual twin."

Cops busted a Queens man suspected of stalking the Grammy winner after he snuck into an arena where she was doing a sound check on Monday night to prepare for a benefit concert.

Ambrose Kappos was tossed out of the dressing room area by security guards only to return after the sound check, when he attempted to follow Crow into her limo outside the Hammerstein Ballroom on New York's West 34th Street.

The singer's security guards reportedly detained the former Navy diver until police arrived and arrested the 37-year-old on charges of burglary, stalking, harassment, aggravated harassment and criminal possession of marijuana.

Kappos was arraigned Wednesday before Judge M.R. Jackson, who set bail at $15,000 cash or $45,000 bond and scheduled a follow-up court date for Friday.

According to the felony complaint filed in Manhattan Criminal Court, Kappos entered the area where Crow was rehearsing and told a security guard, "I'm here to see Sheryl, I'm Ambrose."

Approaching a second security guard, Kappos told him, "I spoke to her father. I'm her twin. We're spiritually connected. I am going to meet her. I'm Ambrose."

The overly enthusiastic fan has purportedly been following Crow for months and visited her father at his Tennessee home in July 2002, where he pressured Crow's dad to reveal his daughter's itinerary. Crow's father turned Kappos away and called military officials to report the incident.

Kappos has also contacted Crow's sister. "He would tell them that he's going to marry her, and she has to have his babies," a source told the New York Daily News.

Kappos' brother Von said his sibling had been disciplined by the Navy after he visited Crow's father. "It was an internal thing," he said. Ambrose Kappos was eventually discharged from the service, though it's not clear if stalking Crow resulted in his dismissal.

"I want to apologize, from my whole family and myself, to Sheryl Crow and her family," Von Kappos told the Daily News. "We are sorry if my brother caused her any grief. It must be somewhat frightening to the singer and her family. He's infatuated."

Crow will reach out to law-abiding fans next week with her latest album, The Very Best of Sheryl Crow, that includes hits such as "All I Wanna Do," "Every Day Is a Winding Road," "If It Makes You Happy" and her duet with Kid Rock, "Picture."
