Sherri Shepherd got engaged to TV writer Lamar Sally on Dec. 26 and they're planning to tie the knot this August in Chicago, a rep for the actress and View cohost confirms to E! News.
Though we don't get a glimpse of the ring until The View returns from winter hiatus on Jan. 10 (there's a shock), the details of the proposal are yours for the ooh-ing and ah-ing.

According to Shepherd's rep, the duo arrived at Sally's L.A. home following a trip to San Diego to find their room decorated with strings of lights, her dog wearing a Santa hat and a tiny little box nestled in a dish of M&Ms, Shepherd's favorite candy.
Not leaving anything to chance, Sally had already asked Shepherd's 5-year-old son Jeffrey's permission for his mom's hand in marriage, clearing the way for her to accept his proposal.
This will be Shepherd's second marriage. She and Jeffrey's father, Jeff Tarpley, separated in 2006 after five years together and divorced in 2009.
She and Sally were introduced by pal Niecy Nash's fiancé, Jay Tucker.
