A run-in with someone with a real basic instinct has rattled Sharon Stone.

On Tuesday, Stone asked for and was granted a temporary restraining order against Agostino P'omato, a man who showed up at Stone's Los Angeles-area home last week looking for the actress, saying he had come all the way from Italy to marry her.

P'omato, who remains in a mental health facility following the incident, is now barred from having any contact with the 43-year-old actress. The restraining order, issued by Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Victor I. Reichman, also prevents P'omato, 32, from coming within 100 yards of Stone's husband, San Francisco newpaper exec Phil Bronstein, and their 10-month old son, Roan, as well as the couple's homes in L.A. and San Francisco.

According to court documents released Thursday, P'omato turned up on Stone's doorstep on March 19. "When asked the reason for his visit, Mr. P'omato stated that he had come 'to take Sharon Stone'," the petition says. "Mr. P'omato was told that there was no one at home by that name. However, he kept repeating 'I'm here for Sharon Stone.' "

P'omato allegedly professed his love for the actress and said he "had come all the way from Italy to marry her." He then flashed his Italian passport to Stone's housekeeper, who immediately contacted police.

While P'omato was there, the Basic Instinct star returned home and entered her poolhouse. P'omato spied her and allegedly made a beeline toward her.

"Mr. P'omato then began walking quickly toward the poolhouse," according to the petition. "Ms. Stone's driver and two men who were working in the front garden approached Mr. P'omato and stopped him from entering the poolhouse."

Police soon arrived at the house, took P'omato into custody and carted him off to a mental hospital, where he's currently being evaluated.

Stone's petition claims P'omato's "actions indicated an intent to harass and annoy" the actress, and she has asked for a permanent restraining order against him.

A hearing on the order has been scheduled for April 17.
