Sex's Handler Makes City Slicker

Another boy is back in town.

A month after Sex and the City: The Movie producers confirmed that Chris Noth's quintessential cad Mr. Big would be a part of the big-screen outing, and just a week before filming on the movie is set to begin, Evan Handler has confirmed he will return in a supporting role.

"I'm looking forward to spending some weeks in New York," he told People. "It should be fun."

Handler will reprise his role as Harry Goldenblatt, the back hair-bearing hubby of Kristin Davis' Charlotte. However, in breaking with the veil of secrecy over the project, Handler offered some small scoop about the the film.

"Harry doesn't feature that prominently," he said. "So, I mean, I'm there, but it's their story."

It's unclear whether that goes for all Y-chromosome types in the movie, which will pick up four years after the Fab Four—Davis, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kim Cattrall—last graced the small screen, more or less echoing the real time that has elapsed. The series ended its six-year run on HBO in 2004.

When viewers last saw Harry, he and Charlotte were devastated after a series of ill-fated stabs at conceiving but had finally received word that they had been approved to adopt a child from China in six months' time. As the film picks up well past that time frame, a cross-cultural bundle of joy could potentially be theirs for the raising.

While casting confirmations are few and far between, Handler hinted that hope is not lost for some Sex fixtures whose names have yet to be announced in conjunction with the project, telling People that everyone's favorites will, in some capacity, be back.

"Myself and others, you know we haven't signed on officially yet, but yeah, I think everyone's on board," he said. "We've all sort of knuckled under and agreed to terms in one way or another."

Among those apparently willing to knuckle under alongside Noth and Handler are David Eigenberg, who played Miranda hubby, Steve; Jason Lewis, who was Samantha's actor boy-toy Smith; and hangers-on Willie Garson as Stanford and Mario Cantone as Anthony.

One famous face that never appeared on the series has been confirmed for the film, however.

Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson signed on last week to play the personal assistant to Parker's couture-clad sex columnist Carrie. She is the first—and so far only—nonregular to be attached to the movie.

It shouldn't take long to figure out whether she's the only new face to join the group, thanks to the snap-happy lenses of the paparazzi. The film is set to begin shooting this week on location in and around Manhattan.
