"Sex" Man Engaged
Acting-wise, the 42-year-old thespian is best known for his starring role on Twin Peaks and his current gig on HBO's Sex and the City. Off-screen, however, he's gained quite the reputation for his amazing ability to date, but never commit to, some of the most beautiful women in Tinseltown.
His romantic history is riddled with the likes of Laura Dern and Lara Flynn Boyle. He was engaged to supermodel Linda Evangelista for what seemed like forever (they began dating in 1992, got engaged in '96 and split two years later without ever swapping "I dos").
Now, however, MacLachlan is apparently ready to plight his troth with his gal-pal of two years, fashion publicist Desiree Gruber.
His publicist confirmed Tuesday that the two were engaged and had set an April 20 wedding date in Gruber's hometown of Miami.
MacLachlan and Gruber, whose clients include Evangelista pal Naomi Campbell (it's a small world), met at a chiropractor's office in 1999 and have been together ever since.
In addition to his star-making, Golden Globe-winning turn as FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper on David Lynch's bizarro Twin Peaks TV series, MacLachlan has appeared in Lynch's Dune and Blue Velvet, Oliver Stone's The Doors and Paul Verhoeven's Showgirls. MacLachlan currently pockets a paycheck as SATC's Dr. Trey MacDougal, the sometimes impotent husband of Kristin Davis' Charlotte.
