A Second Helping of "Restaurant"?

It looks like NBC has not yet had its fill of The Restaurant.

According to published reports, the network is in final talks with the show's executive producers to offer up a second helping of the hit summer reality series revolving around the opening and running of a hip Manhattan eatery.

The Peacock Network and producers Mark Burnett, Ben Silverman and Magna Global Entertainment are currently trying to cook up a deal that is sweet for everyone involved in the project, Daily Variety reports.

NBC is not commenting on the negotiations, but there seems to be one big question: Will the second installment of The Restaurant focus on the same restaurant?

Current Restaurant celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito, his restaurant, Rocco's, and his colorful band of employees may or may not be the focus of the next season. The New York Post says there's "an offer on the table" for DiSpirito and his crew to return. DiSpirito has also been quoted saying he wants to return for a second go-round, especially to show that he's not as maniacal as he has come across this summer.

But, according to Variety, NBC has been fielding offers from several celebrity chefs who would like to throw their aprons in the ring.

The first edition of The Restaurant has been a delicious surprise for NBC. In spite of a sluggish start in the ratings when it debuted in July (not to mention some pretty heinous food reviews), the show has gathered some serious momentum.

Last Sunday's serving topped the Nielsen in the key 18-to-49 demographic and scored an solid 8.2 million viewers. The Restaurant has averaged more than 8 million viewers throughout its summer run.

DiSpirito, meanwhile, has more on his plate than worrying about a second season. He's currently facing a reality check at the hands of the New York Health Department. Rocco's recently picked up six health-code violations, which included "evidence of live flies," after a surprise July 29 visit. A hearing on the citation is set for October 22.

Meanwhile, this season's edition of The Restaurant will wrap up Sunday.
