Sean Stewart Nailed for Bricklaying
Rod Stewart's son seems to be having a hard time playing nice with others.
Sean Roderick Stewart has been arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with an April incident in which the reality-TV star allegedly roughed up a West Hollywood couple by, among other things, hurling a brick at them. The purported victims have since sued the rock scion for assault and battery.
Los Angeles Police Department officers collared the Sons of Hollywood player Tuesday and took him into custody, where he was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count each of throwing a substance at a vehicle and vandalism causing more than $400 in damage. All are felony charges.
The warrant for his arrest states that Stewart "did willfully and unlawfully commit an assault…with a deadly weapon, to wit, a brick."
Stewart, 26, was held for about an hour and a half and then released after posting $60,000 bail. Arraignment has been set for July 3.
The heavily tattooed son of Rod and first wife Alana and brother of socialite Kimberly Stewart has also been sued by the couple who say they were on the receiving end of Stewart's Apr. 22 tirade.
According to Tolabus and Ericka Stein's lawsuit, filed last month in Los Angeles Superior Court, the couple were motoring away from their Hollywood Hills home in their truck when Stewart and an unspecified number of his pals—without any foreseeable motive—started "swinging their arms at, punching, throwing bricks and other items" at them, and also started striking the truck.
The Steins have accused Stewart of assault, battery and both intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress. Per court documents, they suffered "shock, horror, fright, worry, grief, shame, embarrassment, anger and chagrin," for which they're seeking unspecified damages.
Meanwhile, in a statement to tmz.com, Stewart's attorney said that his camp's investigation of the incident reveals something "much different than what the complaining witness has alleged."
After interviewing numerous witnesses, "our investigation has shown that the alleged victim only named Sean Stewart as a suspect after hearing that Mr. Stewart was at the party that night and that the alleged victim had a financial motive to make these allegations against Mr. Stewart," the statement continued.
"Our investigation has also revealed that any crimes which may have been committed that night , were in fact committed by the person who claims to be the victim."
TMZ reported back in April that Stewart and his two-man posse had allegedly been spied at about 4 a.m. on Apr. 22 throwing bricks, rocks, a trash can and a mailbox at a Ford truck that was driving past a Hollywood Hills residence where the guys had just been denied entry to a party.
Tolabus Stein told TMZ that his wife had suffered "massive lacerations to her legs" and that he had taken her to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for treatment.
A&E's 12-episode Sons of Hollywood, which premiered in April, featured Stewart cohabitating with Randy Spelling, son of Aaron, and their childhood pal, talent manager David Weintraub.
