Sean Penn Ordered to Anger Management—Let's Hope It Sticks

Coming soon to a theater street-cleaning crew near you: Sean Penn.

The ever-ornery star pleaded no contest today in his paparazzo-smacking case. And while Penn managed to avoid the pen, he was ordered to complete three years of probation, 300 hours of community service and, instructors beware, an anger-management class.

Good luck with that.

The two-time Oscar winner was officially sentenced for a single misdemeanor charge of vandalism; prosecutors in turn dropped the battery count Penn originally faced for allegedly roughing up shutterbug Jordan Dawes.

Penn, 49, was also ordered to say away from the photographer—at least outside of court. The judge will rule on July 8 on how much Penn must pay in restitution to the victim and Dawes still has a lawsuit pending against the actor. The next hearing in that case is May 27.
