Scrubs' McGinley Ties Knot

This oughta keep John C. McGinley out of the downward doghouse for a while.

The Scrubs star traded in his white coat for a black tie over the weekend, tying the knot with his yoga instructor girlfriend Nichole Kessler in an intimate Malibu ceremony, his rep confirmed to E! News.

The twosome swapped vows in front of just 30 family members and friends, including McGinley buddy John Cusack, at the couple's beachfront home Saturday evening.

Kessler, 34, was accompanied down the aisle by McGinley's nine-year-old son, Max, whom the actor had with ex-wife Lauren Lambert and whom the actor credits with connecting him to Kessler in the first place.

McGinley met his bride-to-be when Max, who suffers from Down syndrome, began chatting up the flexible femme during a father-son beach trip nearly three years ago.

Kessler strolled down the aisle in a blush wedding dress by Le Spose Di Gio and carried a bouquet of Dutch peonies.

For the laid-back reception, guests munched on sushi from nearby hot spot Nobu Malibu and feasted on a three-tier wedding cake from Mani's Bakery.

The night before, the 47-year-old new hubby hosted a rehearsal dinner. Cusack was among the attendees.

McGinley popped the question last August, while he and Kessler were enjoying an early morning in their shared Malibu garden.

"I wanted to show her some different flower ideas I had," he said at the time. "And I had the rock in my pocket. I told her, 'Sit down here to see the view of the ocean,' and I said, 'Will you marry me?' and I took out the rock."

The rock, a two-carat round diamond ring, with the center stone—representing Kessler—surrounded by two one-carat diamonds—representing McGinley and his son—and smaller baguettes, apparently warranted a yes.

The trip down the aisle marks the second for McGinley, who was married for two years to Lauren Lambert before divorcing in 1998, and the first for Kessler.

It's unclear whether any of McGinley's Scrubs costars were present for the ceremony, though at least a few of them had some celebrations of their own to tend to over the weekend.

While McGinley was shaking off the wedding jitters, Zach Braff and Donald Faison were ringing in Braff's 32nd birthday in Las Vegas. The real-life buds partied it up with Braff's Last Kiss costar Michael Westin at Jet nightclub Friday night.

As for what's next for McGinley—looks like an extended honeymoon.

Production on the sixth season of Scrubs has already wrapped and while NBC has yet to renew it for a seventh year, it will likely return to the airwaves one way or another: ABC, whose subsidiary Touchstone produces the show, has previously announced that it will air a final season of the Peabody Award-winning series if NBC drops it.
