Sandra & Jesse's Monster Garage Surprise

Jesse James knows his way around a garage. It's what was lurking outside the garage that threw the Discovery Channel star for a loop.

Sandra Bullock's hubby was unpleasantly surprised Sunday morning when, upon leaving the couple's home in Seal Beach, California, he discovered a woman lying in their driveway, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

The police identified the woman as Marcia Valentine, who, they say, has been a longtime stalker of Bullock and has been seen near her house before, in what seems to have become her usual perch outside the garage.

After James confronted Valentine, she hopped into her 2004 silver Mercedes and tried to run over the Monster Garage host three or four times before speeding off, according to police.

"She threw it in reverse. He jumped out of the way, of course," Sheriff's Department spokesman Jim Amormino told Los Angeles' KABC-TV. "He tried to avoid her. She would put it in drive, in reverse again...I'm not sure if she was looking for a confrontation, wanted to contact the actress, [or] exactly what it was."

The vehicle didn't actually touch James and he was not hurt, authorities said, although his missus and 10-year-old son were plenty shaken up after watching a stranger attempt to make mincemeat out of the muscled motorcycle-builder.

Police told E! News that Valentine was arrested Monday after a patrol car spotted the seemingly overzealous "fan" driving near Bullock and James' home. She posted $25,000 in bail Thursday after being booked at Orange County Women's Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and is due in court May 22.

The couple's rep, Cheryl Maisel, confirmed that the incident took place. "Both Jesse James and Sandra Bullock are fine and it is now in the hands of the authorities," she said in a statement to E! News.

A neighbor of the couple's told KABC that he had spotted someone matching Valentine's description in front of Bullock and James' garage about a month ago.

"I asked her if she was high, if she was on drugs, if she needed medical attention," the man, who gave his name as Steve, recalled.

This is not the first time that Miss Congeniality has faced off against an alleged stalker. Bullock sued Tennessee's Department of Mental Health to ensure that she gets properly notified when the man who she claims trailed her through several states and sent her gifts is released from the state treatment facility he's been cooling his heels in since 2003.
