Ryan O'Neal is fighting a new battle.

The 70-year-old actor, who was diagnosed with leukemia in 2001, has just revealed that he was recently diagnosed with stage two prostate cancer, according to People.

"Although I was shocked and stunned by the news, I feel fortunate that it was detected early and according to my extraordinary team of doctors the prognosis is positive for a full recovery," O'Neal said in a statement. "I am deeply grateful for the support of my friends and family during this time, and I urge everyone to get regular check-ups, as early detection is the best defense against this horrible disease that has afflicted so many."

The Love Story star has penned a memoir titled Both of Us, due out May 1, about his life with longtime love Farrah Fawcett, who was 62 when she died of anal cancer in 2009.

O'Neal was reportedly in remission when Fawcett started cancer treatments in 2006.
