Roy Horn Rehabbing in Denver

Roy Horn is hoping to make his health problems disappear.

The 59-year-old illusionist of Siegfried & Roy fame, who nearly lost his life after being mauled by a tiger last October, has checked into Denver's Craig hospital, the Denver Post reports.

The rehabilitation center specializes in treating spinal cord and traumatic brain and stroke injuries. Horn arrived at the hospital on Tuesday and reportedly underwent an evaluation on Thursday. No word on what doctors are treating him for or how long he's expected to stay.

"All we can say is that he is here for an evaluation," hospital spokesman Kenny Hosack told the Post Thursday night. "His people and the hospital are not releasing any more information or granting any interviews at this time."

The cat-taming magician is still recovering after being attacked by his beloved 600-pound male tiger named Montecore, who grabbed Horn by the neck and dragged him offstage during what was supposed to be a celebratory show on Oct. 3, Horn's 59th birthday.

Horn was hospitalized in critical condition and suffered massive blood loss, leading to a stroke that left him with limited motor functions. He was unable to walk or eat and his prognosis appeared grim.

But Horn survived and made what his neurosurgeons said was a miraculous recovery.

Calls to Craig hospital were not returned and Siegfried & Roy's publicist, Dave Kirvin, was unavailable for comment Friday.

But manager Bernie Yuman told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that Horn traveled to Craig because "it is one of the most prominent places on the planet for this kind of trauma...the goal is to give Roy the very best opportunity to succeed."

Despite Siegfried Fischbacher's unwavering conviction that his partner of four decades will eventually recover, the Germany-based spokeswoman for the couple told a local magazine that the pair would never perform together again. Siegfreid & Roy's hugely popular Vegas showcase at the MGM Mirage, which brings in more than $40 million a year in revenue, has been shuttered since the accident.

So far, intense physical theraphy has allowed Horn to get back on his feet, although he still needs the aid of a walker to steady himself.

While their stage show is kaput, Siegfried & Roy have something to look forward to. NBC and DreamWorks' heavily hyped new cartoon series, Father of the Pride, set backstage at the animal-loving entertainers' show and featuring the voices of John Goodman and Cheryl Hines, is set to debut Aug. 31.
