Roy Back on His Feet

He took a tiger lickin', but Roy Horn, of Siegfried & Roy fame, is still tickin'.

The illusionist is back on his feet with the help of a wheeled walking device, according to media reports out of Berlin.

Aided by the contraption, Horn walked 558 paces last week according to his spokesperson.

Claudia Dressler said the 59-year-old showman's recovery after a tiger attack five months ago is a testament to his "strong willpower" and intensive physical therapy routine. Horn is undergoing the rehab work at his Las Vegas compound.

To recap: Horn was mauled Oct. 3 by a 600-lb white tiger named Montecore, who attacked Horn during a sold-out stage performance at the Mirage hotel in Las Vegas.

The cat tamer lost massive amounts of blood and suffered a stroke following the attack, leaving friends and fans to fear the worst.

But longtime partner Siegfried Fishbacher has consistently downplayed the incident and Horn's purportedly dire condition, despite rumors that Horn was left unable to walk, talk intelligibly or eat.

According to a statement on the duo's official Website, Roy "continues to make great progress every day and we offer our heartfelt thanks for the continued support you all have shown."

But all the optimism in the world couldn't convince the Mirage to take a gamble on Roy's recovery. Hotel officials closed the show following the attack, putting hundreds of out of work and ending the hotel's $44 million annual take from the performance.

Still, Siegfried & Roy could be making a comeback of sorts. Father of the Pride, a computer-animated TV series based on the pair's signature white cats, has been picked up by NBC and is reportedly one of the shows in consideration to fill the Friends slot next fall.
