Rosie Checks Out of Hospital

Looks like Rosie O'Donnell will just have to talk to the hand until she's fully recuperated.

The TV talker and rookie magazine editor was released from a New York hospital Monday after she spent five days there to recover from a staph infection to her surgically repaired left hand.

But a publicist for the Koosh-slinging Queen of Nice said Rosie will not return to her afternoon talk show until next Monday. Until then, a rotating crop of celebrity guest hosts will fill in.

O'Donnell, 39, was reportedly in agony last Wednesday--less than a week after undergoing more surgery on the tendons in her hand. Her stitched-up hand had incurred a nasty infection, forcing her to check into an undisclosed Upper East Side hospital.

While incapacitated, Rosie's pals from The View, including Barbara Walters, Joy Behar and Meredith Vieira, have stepped in to host Rosie. No word on who will take the chair during the rest of this week.

The hand troubles dated back to a painful fishing trip with her kids last August. O'Donnell accidentally sliced the tendons in her left hand when she used a knife to cut the price tag off a fishing pole she had bought for her son, Parker. She's since undergone several operations to repair the ligament damage.

Prior to her hospital trip last week, O'Donnell had been grossing out everybody from Regis Philbin to Hugh Grant, lifting up her bandage to display the wound and showing off the zigzag scar during a party for her new magazine, Rosie.

Unfortunately, O'Donnell does not include detailed surgery photos in her new magazine. But the new publication does provide insight into subjects like Fran Drescher's battle with uterine cancer, coupled with handy beauty tips from Madonna.
