Rodman's Colorado No-Show

The Worm is wanted in Colorado.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Dennis Rodman in the state, after he failed to appear in court Wednesday on reckless driving and speeding charges.

Summit County Court Judge Russell Granger set bail at $2,500 after he called case 2005T-001310 and the defendant, one Dennis Keith Rodman, was nowhere to be seen.

District Court Administrator Christine Yuhas told the Rocky Mountain News the former NBA star faces arrest if he does not try to make amends. "It's just another traffic case to us," said Yuhas. "But if he shows up again in Colorado, we'll pick him up."

Rodman was busted July 26 for allegedly driving his Lamborghini a crisp 98 mph through the town of Frisco, in the mountains west of Denver, while participating in a Canonball Run-esque cross-country charity road rally, the 2005 Bullrun USA.

Rodman's agent, Darren Prince, told the Associated Press his client's failure to appear in count on the speeding rap was, "a misunderstanding." That sentiment was echoed by his lawyer, Gary Pirosko, who apparently didn't realize he and his client were due in court.

"When Dennis got the ticket, he gave a copy of it to the event organizer," Pirosko wrote in a statement to the judge. "He was under the mistaken impression that the event sponsor had settled the ticket with the court."

Rodman's reps say that his sponsor in the event, online casino GoldenPalace.com, had signed off on paying the fine and Rodman's legal fees, although the court has yet to receive any payment. In the meantime, Pirosko has asked the judge to revoke the warrant.

Court officials down the road in Montrose County, west of Summit County, are also waiting to collect their money from Rodman. The same day he was arrested near Frisco, he was tagged in Montrose doing 69 in a 45-mph zone. Prince told the AP that GoldenPalace.com had mailed a check for $400 on Monday.

The two speeding tickets were part of a particularly rough stretch of highway for the lead-footed Rodman. Before he could get out of the state, he was charged with stealing a cowboy hat and failing to pay a fuel bill at a gas station in Glenwood Springs off I-70.

At the time, Rodman said (a) he didn't realized he underpaid to fill up his car, and (b) he believed the cowboy hat was a gift from the cashier.

In any case, those charges were resolved when a female fan anonymously paid for the gas and hat.

"As long as our local business was made whole and they're happy, I'm happy, too," Glenwood Springs Police chief Terry Wilson told the Glenwood Springs Post Independent last month. Rodman, last seen running with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain, was unavailable for comment. Prince, however, told the AP that despite the Colorado setbacks, Rodman would love to participate in the 2006 Bullrun.

"He'll do it next year. He'll either drive a little bit slower or not listen to any gas station attendants that say he can have a hat for free and sign some autographs."
