Hijazi, the mother of James' 4-year-old son, was arrested Monday for allegedly shoplifting a pair of boots in Northern California. The former model is in the Marin County jail pending a hearing.
Hijazi was with James in 1993 when he invited a woman into a hotel room for a business meeting. According to prosecutors, after the meeting ended, James--coming down from a cocaine binge--bound and beat the woman for 12 hours. James, who was out on bail for an earlier assault charge when the incident occurred, was convicted of assault and holding the woman against her will. Hijazi pleaded guilty to assault and was sentenced to two years. In 1994, a jury awarded the victim $2 million in damages in a civil lawsuit.
James has reportedly written 400 songs while in prison and is heading back to the studio to record.
