Renfro Gets Jail Time

Brad Renfro keeps driving into trouble.

The 23-year-old actor was sentenced to 10 days in Los Angeles County Jail after pleading no contest Wednesday to a drunken driving charge, the city attorney's office confirmed.

Renfro was arrested on Nov. 23 with a blood-alcohol level of 0.09, just over the state legal limit of 0.08.

After Renfro entered his plea, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Carter doled out another five years of probation, a $450 fine and the jail time, and ordered Renfro to spend 18 months in a counseling program. Another charge of driving with a suspended license was dropped, per a deal with prosecutors.

The former child star voluntarily turned himself in immediately after the hearing and was taken into custody. He will ultimately spend eight days in jail after the court factored in time served.

Wednesday marked Renfro's second time in an L.A. court this week. On Monday, another judge told Renfro he could enter a drug diversion program to avoid receiving jail time for a heroin bust that came a month after the DUI arrest. The judge cautioned that should Renfro slip up, he could face up to 18 months more behind bars. He's due back for a progress hearing Apr. 4.

Following the drug arrest, Renfro checked in to a live-in drug treatment facility.

After a promising start in Hollywood at age 12 in The Client, Tom and Huck and Sleepers, Renfro has spent more time on court dockets than casting calls.

When he was 15, he was charged with possession of cocaine and marijuana, and he has been in and out of courtrooms and treatment centers ever since.

In 2001 a Florida court found Renfro was under the influence of drugs and alcohol when he and a friend tried to steal a 45-foot yacht out of a Fort Lauderdale harbor the previous summer. The Apt Pupil star received two years' probation and was ordered to pay repair and police fees.

The year didn't get much better, as Renfro was arrested for public intoxication and driving without a license. He was ordered in 2002 to spend 90 days in rehab for the incident.
