Renfro Back in Rehab
Brad Renfro has entered rerun season.
The Client star is back in rehab days after getting busted in a drug sting.
Renfro was a no-show in court Friday for arraignment on a charge of attempted heroin possession. His lawyer said the trouble-magnet actor had entered a full-time drug treatment program.
Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner James Bianco in turn agreed to postpone Renfro's arraignment to Jan. 18 and allowed the former child star to remain free on $10,000 bail.
Shortly after his Dec. 22 arrest, when he attempted to score heroin from an undercover cop on L.A.'s Skid Row, Renfro was apologetic about his behavior and admitted to having a drug problem, according to Lieutenant Paul Vernon of the LAPD.
His attorney, Richard Kaplan, said Renfro was "doing fine" in his rehabilitation and that he would appear before the court for his arraignment next month.
"This is nothing unusual," Kaplan said.
Unfortunately not.
This attempt marks Renfro's second stint in rehab, though his first time voluntarily entering a program.
In 2002, the Apt Pupil star was ordered into rehab after being arrested for driving without a license and public intoxication. Both charges violated the terms of his probation, which he was serving for a 2001 arrest on charges of attempting to steal a yacht in Fort Lauderdale. Five months after that incident, he was charged with underage drinking.
Back in 1998, when he was 15, Renfro was charged with possession of cocaine and marijuana, but he managed to avoid jail time after striking a plea bargain with prosecutors.
Renfro first appeared on the big screen at age 12 opposite Susan Sarandon and Tommy Lee Jones in the 1994 thriller The Client. More recently, the actor has taken supporting roles in such films as 2001's Ghost World, with Thora Birch and Scarlett Johansson, and 2005's The Jacket, with Adrien Brody and Keira Knightley.
Renfro, now 23, will next star opposite Grammy winner Nelly Furtado in the drama Nobody's Hero, due out in 2006.
