Ratings Up as American Idol Mixes It Up

Wednesday TV's Big Winner, Besides the Guys Hawking "Anoopdog Millionaire" T-Shirts: Change! American Idol switched up its rules; Fox fiddled with time slots; everybody, except, Jorge Nuñez and Jasmine Murray, won.
Compared to last week, Idol, airing an hour later at 9 p.m., was up almost 2 million viewers (24.9 million, per preliminary Nielsen data); Lie to Me, airing an hour earlier at 8 p.m., was up about 1 million (11.1 million).
Fringe Benefit: Airing opposite Lie to Me, instead of Idol, America's Next Top Model (4.5 million) was up 15 percent from its season premiere.
Etc.: Criminal Minds (14.1 million) was the most-watched scripted show; the new NBC reality series Chopping Block (4 million) was on its way to becoming the late NBC reality series; Life on Mars (4.6 million) was lost airing after a Lost rerun (4.2 million).
