Quaid and Wife Expecting Twins
Dennis Quaid is about to double his pleasure.
The Rookie star and his wife Kimberly are expecting their first children, as in twins, together later this year via a surrogate mother.
Quaid publicist Lisa Kasteler confirmed that the 53-year-old actor and his 35-year-old wife were the biological parents, but did not disclose the identity of the surrogate, her relationship to the Quaids or a due date.
The couple met in March 2003 at an Austin dinner party, introduced by a mutual friend. They ended up tying the knot just over a year later, on July 4, 2004.
The actor also has a 15-year-old son, Jack Henry, with ex-wife Meg Ryan.
While awaiting the delivery, the In Good Company star is making sure he'll have plenty of diaper money, with several films in the pipeline.
Quaid is currently filming The Express, a drama about the first black player to take home the Heisman Trophy, and is also lending his vocal cords to Terra, an animated flick about a curious extraterrestrial.
Meanwhile, he is reportedly once again in the beginning stages of his pet project, Shame on You, which he is writing, directing and starring in. The biopic of western swing star Spade Cooley has suffered a series of setbacks, from having its New Orleans-based production postponed in the wake of Hurricane Katrina to weathering the loss of leading lady Katie Holmes, who dropped out of the film to focus on her pregnancy last year.
Nevertheless, the IMDb has listed a 2008 release date for the flick.
