More than ever, this is the month in which monarchists must think they've died and gone to pomp and circumstance heaven.

The royal family was once again out in full force today, when Kate Middleton, Prince William, Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip and Prince Charles gathered for the annual Order of the Garter parade, honoring England's oldest and most ridiculously outfitted order of chivalry.

Guess it isn't dead, after all.

William, along with Charles and Philip—all of whom have been knighted into England's most prestigious and oldest order of chivalry—walked the procession, while Kate, Camilla and Sophie of Wessex were captured beaming and otherwise giggling their way through the festivities while watching on the sidelines (uh, have you seen those outfits?).

For today's illustrious celebrations, the prince donned the traditional plumed (and how) hat, long purple velvet robe and various encumbering accoutrements and set out to process from Windsor Castle to St. George's Chapel.

Kate, on the other hand, was resplendent in white, donning an Alexander McQueen coat and Jane Corbett fascinator for the occasion.

In a rather good sign of his recovery from his hospital stay last month, joining William for the half-mile walk was the 91-year-old Prince Philip, and of course Prince Charles. At the end of the annual service, all members of the ancient order of the knights bowed and/or curtsied to the queen.

As it happens, today's service comes in the wake of the announcement of Wills' getting knighted into Scotland's Order of the Thistle, second in precedence and seniority only to England's Order of the Garter.

Meanwhile, after the parade, the royals headed back to the castle grounds for no doubt another celebration, with Will and Kate sharing a carriage ride back to Windsor. What a gent.
