Posh & Becks' Tabloid Tiff
David and Victoria Beckham are happily married, dammit, and they're going to great lenghts to prove it.
Britain's favorite headline-grabbing duo is hoping to score a legal victory against London's News of the World tabloid.
The tab recently became the object of the Beckhams' ire after it ran a Sept. 12 piece titled "Posh and Becks on Rocks," which indicated that the camera-ready couple's marriage was in dire straits.
Not so, according to Great Britain's golden couple, who claim they were caused "considerable distress" by the piece.
The Beckhams initially sought an apology from the News of the World over the article, but when their demands weren't met, they brought out the legal guns.
"David and Victoria Beckham today initiated legal proceedings against the News of the World in relation to an article published on Sunday, 12 September 2004," the couple's legal team said in a statement released Tuesday.
"The News of the World was given the opportunity to provide an apology but have chosen not to respond to the couple's request."
It's the second time in recent months that the Beckhams have had to call in their legal eagles to assuage doubts about the state of their marriage.
The pair first sought legal advice in April, after the News of the World reported that Becks had allegedly carried on an affair with his former assistant Rebecca Loos and had twice bedded a model named Sarah Marbeck--all while dutifully married to the former Posh Spice, natch.
Attempting to subdue the rumor mill in the wake of the alleged infidelities, the Beckhams threatened legal action and fled to the French Alps for a paparazzi-friendly romantic getaway. Plenty of public displays of affection ensued in an effort to convey to the media that things were a-okay.
Further "evidence" that all was well at Beckingham Palace, as the press have dubbed the pair's palatial English estate, came last month when Posh and Becks announced they were expecting their third child in March.
The couple, who already have two sons, said their third child will be born in Spain, where David Beckham, the world's highest-paid soccer player, plays for Real Madrid.
