"Pie" Star Busted for DUI
The American Pie 2 star was arrested Tuesday and slapped with a DUI charge after losing control of her car, plowing into a sign and leaving the scene of the accident.
According to police in Miami Beach, the 22-year-old actress, whose credits include both Pie films, Scary Movie 2 and The Slums of Beverly Hills, was flying down the street in her rented Dodge at about 1:45 a.m., well over the speed limit, when she tried to negotiate a 90-degree turn.
Lyonne's car allegedly missed the turn, skidded off the road and over the curb before smashing into a sign and some shrubbery, causing about $2,500 worth of damage.
The actress then backed up and went on her way.
Unfortunately for her, a police officer took in the whole scene, and he eventually tracked her down and pulled her over.
According to the arrest report, the cop smelled alcohol on the actress' breath. Lyonne allegedly told him, "I'm a movie star. Can I talk to my entertainment lawyer?"
Her passenger, actor Adam Goldberg (Saving Private Ryan) is quoted in the police report as saying he tried to stop her. "I just didn't know how. I didn't know whether to grab the emergency brake or what."
Lyonne later fessed up to drinking, police say.
She was taken into custody and booked on charges of DUI, careless driving and leaving the scene of an accident. No one was injured.
She was freed a few hours later on $2,000 bond and must return to court at a later date.
Her Los Angeles-based publicist refused to comment on the incident, saying it was a pending case.
