Perez Denies Ronson Blow-by-Blow

Perez Hilton claims that Samantha Ronson is barking up the wrong tree.

In an affidavit filed Wednesday in response to Ronson's libel lawsuit against the celebrity blogger, Hilton denies reporting that Lindsay Lohan's pal planted cocaine in the troubled starlet's car on the night of her first DUI bust.

Ronson was a passenger in the Georgia Rule star's Mercedes when she jumped a curb on Sunset Blvd. in Beverly Hills on May 26. When Lohan was arrested, police found what was eventually identified as a "usable amount" of cocaine.

Ronson sued Hilton and CelebrityBabylon purveyor Jill Ishkanian in July for implying that she had purposely left the drugs in Lohan's Mercedes after the fender-bender and then sold her out to the paparazzi the following night by setting up money shots of the actress lying in the car and looking completely out of it.

The deejay's lawsuit accuses celebritybabylon.com of reporting that she accepted money from the shutterbugs in exchange for tipping them off, and then faults perezhilton.com for reprinting the allegedly defamatory story on June 1.

"Rather, the statements were that Ronson was the one who was holding the cocaine later found in Lindsay's car [and that] the cocaine that was found in Lohan's car after her crash may have been Ronson's," reads the document filed this week by Hilton's attorney, Bryan J. Freedman.

"If Ronson was not holding the cocaine, who was?" the lawyer wrote. "Also, if the cocaine did not belong to Ronson, whose cocaine did the police find?"

As for the photographs in question, Freedman stated, "Rather, the statement was that Ronson allegedly entered into an agreement with a photo agency to tip them off to her whereabouts with Lindsay, even creating photo-ops for them."

Ronson's complaint does not specifically deny having some sort of arrangement with the paparazzi. An affidavit filed on her behalf on Sept. 13 does, however, deny planting cocaine in Lohan's car.

"I never placed cocaine next to Lindsay Lohan in a car," Ronson stated. "I am not a drug user. I never arranged for a photographer to take photographs of Lindsay Lohan while she was in a car."

"Everything in the defendants' report is false," she said.

In its story about the scandal, CelebrityBabylon quoted a source as saying, "The car was only down a quarter tank and yet Samantha stopped for gas. She has a side deal with a photo agency and they paid her to make the pit stop!" The site also reported that various other sources had named Ronson as the owner of the powdery white stuff.

Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, said in a statement to E! Online in July that his inclusion in the lawsuit was "without merit and publicity-seeking."

A hearing is set for Wednesday on the defendants' motion to dismiss the suit.

Lohan has since pleaded guilty to two counts of being under the influence of cocaine and pleaded no contest to two counts of driving with a blood-alcohol level over 0.08 percent and a single count of reckless driving.

The massive plea deal covered both the May crash and the DUI arrest in July that occurred just days after she checked out of the Promises rehab center in Malibu. She had been facing felony drug charges and up to three years in prison, but instead was sentenced to only one day behind bars in L.A. County Jail, as well as three years' probation and 10 days of community service.

Lohan was also ordered to complete an 18-month alcohol-education program, undergo drug treatment and attend a three-day county coroner program, in which she visits a morgue and talks to people who were in accidents caused by drunken drivers.

The 21-year-old is currently hunkered down in Utah, detoxing for the third time this year.
