Peas' Taboo Busted for DUI

It's a bad rap for Taboo.

The Black Eyes Peas singer was busted Tuesday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence after crashing his car in Los Angeles, police said.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Taboo, real name Jaime Luis Gomez, was involved in a minor collision at approximately 8:30 a.m. in Industry, a town 20 miles east of Los Angeles.  Officers on the scene reported finding less than an ounce of marijuana and a medication for which the hip-hopster did not have a prescription.

"It was a non-injury traffic collision," LAPD spokesman Steve Whitmore told E! Online.  "When we rolled up on the scene and started talking to the drivers it became apparent to the officers that Mr. Gomez was under the influence."

Taboo, 31, was taken into custody and cited for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of a prescribed medication without a prescription and driving under the influence.  He was booked at a nearby jail and released a few hours later after posting $5,000 bail.

No word yet on a court date.

Apart from Taboo's misadventures, the Black Eyed Peas are getting started on what's shaping up to be a busy 2007.

Female singer Stacey Ann "Fergie" Ferguson is celebrating the success of her debut solo album, The Dutchess, which has spawned the hits "Fergalicious," "London Bridge," and "Glamorous" since dropping last fall. She's also moonlighting as a designer, having recently signed a deal to create her own line of handbags, hitting stores September 1.

In good news for Peas fans, Fergie has made it clear that she has no plans to leave the Grammy-winning group, which won a Grammy last month for Best Pop Performance By a Duo or Group for their sexually suggestive tune, "My Humps."

The Black Eyed Peas recently signed on to perform at one of Al Gore's Live Earth concerts scheduled for July 7.  The hip-hop outfit also plan to pen a song for the event, which aims to raise awareness and mobilize people around the world to take action against the effects of global climate change.
