Pamela Bach off the Hook
Pamela Bach is no longer caught in a hit-and-run.
One day after David Hasselhoff's ex-wife turned herself in to be officially rebooked on a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge, the case against her has been dismissed.
Bach's attorney, Mark Geragos, said the dismissal came about after the driver of the other vehicle submitted an affidavit stating she did not want to proceed with the case.
"I think the woman was paid through insurance," Geragos said of the other motorist. He also noted that there were varying estimates of the damage, which he described as a "paint transfer," ranging from $700 to $1,300.
Bach had been charged with misdemeanor hit-and-run causing property damage stemming from a January incident in which she backed her white Mercedes into a parked car and then drove away.
Her attorney claimed she examined both vehicles and only left the scene after noting there was no damage. However, a sharp-eyed bystander copied down her license plate and reported the fender bender to police.
Bach originally pleaded not guilty to the charge in May. However, after it turned out the arresting officer failed to follow procedure while taking her fingerprints and mug shot after the incident, she was required to turn herself back in to be formally rebooked.
With the hit-and-run finally off her docket, the former Mrs. Hasselhoff can return her attentions to her bitter custody dispute with her ex-husband.
David Hasselhoff was awarded primary physical and full legal custody of the former couple's two teenage daughters in June.
Bach recently agreed to move out of the Encino home she shared with Hasselhoff during their marriage in exchange for getting more time to prepare for an upcoming trial on her request for increased child and spousal support.
She is due to vacate the premises by Oct. 1, the day the trial was supposed to begin. The judge presiding over the case has now pushed the start date back to Jan. 28.
