Pam Stops Kidding Around

Pamela Anderson filing for divorce from Kid Rock after less than four months of marriage, citing "irreconcilable differences"

Three ceremonies and four months later, Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock are calling it quits.

"It wasn't a happy Thanksgiving," Anderson's publicist understated to E! News.

Anderson, 39, and Rock, 35, filed dueling divorce petitions in Los Angeles Superior Court Monday, with each party united in blaming the demise of their marriage on irreconcilable differences.

What they diverged on, however, was the date of their split: Anderson's court papers listed last Tuesday, Nov. 21, as the date of separation, while Rock—identified in both filings by his real name, Robert Ritchie—claims they had five more days of marital bliss before separating on Sunday. Also apparently up for interpretation: which of the stars was supposed to file the paperwork.

By the looks of things, Anderson and Rock were in a race from the altar, with TMZ.com reporting that Rock's papers were stamped just 53 minutes before Anderson's. Rock also reportedly filed his divorce petition just five minutes after the courthouse opened.

The Baywatch babe addressed the split in a brief posting to her official Website: "Divorce. Yes, it's true. Unfortunately impossible."

The erstwhile pinup is being represented by divorce lawyer extraordinaire Neal Hersh, who represents Kim Basinger in her enduring legal battle with Alec Baldwin, and whose client list also included Anderson's Blonde and Blonder costar, Denise Richards, in her divorce from Charlie Sheen, and Brad Pitt, in his split from Jennifer Aniston.

Anderson traded "I do's" with the 35-year-old Detroit rocker on a yacht in Saint-Tropez on July 29, though, spectacular as it was, it apparently wasn't legal. In her divorce petition, Anderson cited Aug. 3 as the date the marriage was officiated.

The inaugural sea-bound nuptials were witnessed by Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, as well as Elton John's partner, David Furnish, and were nearly four years in the making.

Anderson and Rock began their on-off relationship in 2002, when the twosome became engaged for the first time. The following year, they broke off their engagement only to rekindle their flame over the summer, announcing their reengagement in July.

The twosome followed up the tropical vow-swap with two more: the official civil ceremony at the Beverly Hills courthouse on Aug. 3, and another at Nashville's famed honky-tonk bar, Tootsies Orchid Lounge.

Although they initially said there would be a fourth ceremony in Rock's native Michigan, the then newlyweds opted to celebrate, but not re-create, their nuptials in the state, apparently deciding that three times was the charm.

The divorce news comes just weeks after Anderson confirmed she suffered a miscarriage while filming the comedy Blonde and Blonder in Vancouver, issuing a statement through her rep asking that "everyone respect her privacy during this difficult time."

Anderson's split from Rock marks her second trip to divorce court. She was previously married to Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee, with whom she has two sons, Brandon, 10, and Dylan, 8.

Anderson, who has a cameo in Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, is still working on Blonde and Blonder with Richards. Rock, who has yet to speak out on the split, has been in the studio recording an album due out next year.
