Globesmacked! Angelina, Leo, Charlize, Madonna, Meryl "Truly Honored" by Golden Nominations

J. Edgar, Young Adult, Midnight in Paris, Iron Lady, Angelina Jolie Warner Bros; Paramount; Sony Classics; The Weinstein Company
More from red_carpet

It's nice to know that, impressive the new class of Golden Globe nominees is, the stars can still be humbled by a nomination. Even when the nods aren't really surprising (we're talking to you, Angelina Jolie. And don't even start, Meryl Streep).

Of course, it's only fitting that in the year that saw an ode to silent films sweep the nominations, some of the nominees have remained quiet on their honors (make it up to us on Oscar morning, George Clooney).

So, now that the newly minted nominees know that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association likes them—they really like them—just what did they have to say about it?

The Big Year, Steve Martin, Owen Wilson, Jack Black Twentieth Century Fox

Review in a Hurry: After movies featuring a dog (Marley & Me) and a bitch (The Devil Wears Prada), director David Frankel turns his eye to the sky with this uneven adventure about birds and fanatical birders—don't call them "bird watchers"! Considering the high-flying talent attached, The Big Year is a big letdown.

Cars 2 Disney

Review in a Hurry: This souped-up sequel kicks it into high gear with new characters, slick animation and a global espionage caper. Though not the winningest Pixar entry ever, Cars 2 should still pull ahead of box-office competitors and thrill young racing fans with high-octane action.

Midnight in Paris, Owen Wilson, Rachel Mcadams Sony Pictures Classics

Review in a Hurry: At the stroke of midnight on a lonely Parisian street, Owen Wilson is transported from the present to the 1920's for witty banter with Hemingway, Fitzgerald and Salvador...as in Dali!

See for Yourself: Owen Wilson's Son Is One Cute—and Cool—Kid!

Owen Wilson, Robert Wilson Flynetpictures.com

Coolness apparently runs in the family.

Owen Wilson was spotted getting off a private plane in Maui this weekend with his girlfriend Jade Duell and the cutest of carry-ons—the couple's 3-month-old baby boy, Robert Ford Wilson.

Obviously unaffected by the paparazzi, the laidback star's son could be seen kicking back and relaxing in his car seat wearing a baseball cap and a hip pair of shades.

And while he may not have received a traditional lei like Mommy and Daddy did upon touching down, little Robert appeared content just sucking on his binky.

Yep. Life is good.

We'll always have Paris. The City of Light has transfixed people the world over for centuries. In his new movie, Midnight in Paris, he's teamed up with Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams for a love letter to a city that leaves its mark on all who visit it.

Check it out.

Movie Review: Hall Pass Is More Like Detention

Hall Pass New Line

Review in a Hurry: Rick (Owen Wilson) and Fred (Jason Sudeikis) are seemingly happy, married suburban BFFs. When their wives (Jenna Fischer and Christina Applegate) get tired of their foolish man-boy antics, they grant their men a one-week, no-strings-attached, hall pass from marriage. Because this is somehow supposed to strengthen their relationship. Sound stupid? It is.
