Overexposing Lindsay Lohan?
Did you hear about the pictures of Lindsay Lohan eating toast? Give it a few days.
"Once a rising star breaks the ice in the tabloids, just about everything they do becomes fair game," says Mark Lisanti, editor of the gossip blog, Defamer.com. "If Lindsay Lohan is caught eating toast, pictures will instantly wind up on the Internet, and the next day, on Page Six."
For now, our Lohan-hypnotized nation is making do with these: Pictures of the Mean Girls star celebrating Thanksgiving with friends.
The shots, which Defamer.com tipped off Netizens to on Wednesday, had the teen zeitgeist queen back in the headlines Thursday after a roughly five-minute respite.
Though innocuous--the pictures show Lohan merely smiling and posing with pals (your photo album at home probably contains dozens of such dimly lit classics)--the beer bottles and curious-looking cigars toked by said pals (but not Lohan) were enough to warrant a denial of nocuous behavior on the 18-year-old actress' part by her rep.
"Lindsay doesn't smoke pot, she smokes cigarettes," publicist Leslie Sloane Zelnick said in Thursday's New York Daily News.
Lohan has been a tabloid fixture partly because she's been a fixture on young Hollywood's party scene. According to the Daily News, Thanksgiving was, for a down-home twist, on Long Island, where Lohan was raised.
"[The Thanksgiving pictures] are fun," Zelnick said. "Those are her friends."
The fun pictures, 36 in all, originally were available on Picturetrail.com. After the Defamer report, the file was deleted because of abnormally heavy bandwidth use, a message on Picturetrail.com said. Fortunately, for Lohan completists, other sites have preserved the shots.
When judged against her recent body of work (see: hospitalization for still unexplained reasons; split with boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama), the Thanksgiving pictorial arguably is the least newsworthy thing Lohan has done this fall. (Lohan's headline-making father, Michael Lohan, is his own story.)
But lest you think the Freaky Friday star is slipping, think again.
To Lisanti, Lohan's a special kind of celebrity. If she ever gets caught eating toast on camera, Lisanti says, she'll be noshing "at the Spider Club while the Hilton sisters cheer her on."
