Orlando's Bloomin' Fender-Bender
The Bloom is apparently off Orlando's driving skills.
The franchise-friendly actor was involved in a minor car accident that took place in the early morning hours in Los Angeles Friday and left his two female passengers injured.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to E! News that the smashup took place around 2:15 a.m. in Hollywood. The Pirates of the Caribbean star was behind the wheel of a 2003 black Toyota Matrix when he was cut off by another driver. As Bloom swerved to avoid the opposing motorist, he bumped into a parked Porsche Cayenne on the side of the street.
Bloom's publicist, Robin Baum, said the star was "grateful that no one was seriously injured."
There was minor damage to both vehicles, though the LAPD said there was no speeding, alcohol or drugs involved in the incident.
There were, however, paparazzi.
The 30-year-old actor was driving a car reportedly registered to his Pirates cinematographer Dariusz Wolski, though the DP was not in the car at the time of the accident. Instead, Bloom was accompanied by two unidentified female friends, whom he was spotted with earlier in the night while leaving Hollywood hotspot the Green Door.
While Bloom was able to walk away unscathed from the fender-bender, and indeed can be seen doing so in footage of the crash's aftermath, neither of his companions was so lucky.
"We've got somebody who's injured here," the actor can be overheard saying in a video appearing on X17online.com. "Call an ambulance."
Cops and an ambulance arrived on the scene shortly thereafter, and police confirmed that both of Bloom's cohorts suffered injuries in the crash. The 30-year-old woman who was sitting in the front passenger seat suffered a cut to her neck from the seatbelt, while the 35-year-old female in the back seat suffered a fractured neck.
Both women were taken to a nearby hospital, accompanied by Bloom, and both have since been treated and released.
"He spent last night at the hospital to be with his childhood friend who sustained a minor neck injury," Baum said. "He is thankful that emergency services arrived so quickly and that the ER staff at Cedars-Sinai took such good care of his friend."
Meanwhile, the man who reportedly owned the vehicle struck by Bloom is demanding an apology—and a check.
“Orlando was just running away from the paparazzi. He didn’t say a word to me,” Mark Ivanko told In Touch. “The damage is pretty bad. Looks like it’s going to be at least $7,000 or $8,000. I have his phone number. He’s going to pay for my car.”
The actor, who is taking a self-imposed break from the big screen, recently wrapped up his two-month debut run on London's West End, starring in the family drama In Celebration.
