Oprah fans, take note: Don't blame your TiVo if you don't get the episode you were expecting today.
Today's scheduled show, a special marking the 10th anniversary of the Columbine High School massacre, was scrapped at the last minute after Winfrey decided it concentrated too much on the two young killers at the expense of the victims.
"I decided to pull the Columbine show today. After reviewing it, I thought it focused too much on the killers. Today, hold a thought for the Columbine community. This is a hard day for them," the talk show queen said in a statement on her website and Twitter feed.
Dubbed "10 Years Later: The Truth about Columbine," the episode chronicled Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold's horrific attack on their Colorado school on April 20, 1999—a shocking shooting spree that left 12 of their classmates and one teacher dead, and nearly two dozen more injured.
Winfrey is replacing the piece with "Released From Prison: A Mom of 3 Goes Home," in which correspondent Lisa Ling traces how a woman put her life back together following a pornography bust and a stint behind bars.
No word on whether Oprah will return to the topic of Columbine in the future.
