For One Day, Jury Duty Really the Pitt's

An A-lister appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom and didn't take a seat the defendant's table? Will wonders never cease.

A justice-seeking Brad Pitt turned up for jury duty Thursday, inadvertently making the best case for civic-mindedness the legal system could have imagined.

"He served just like everyone else does," the star's rep told People.

Well, not quite like everyone else.

According to TMZ, which provided the play-by-play of Pitt's downtown foray, Angelina Jolie's other half showed up to court in a chauffeured SUV and was promptly given the courthouse's equivalent of VIP parking with a spot in the employee lot.

The 43-year-old, who donned his best blue jeans, white T-shirt and black cap for his sojourn with the hoi polloi, also reportedly brought a book with him and was ushered into a private room, before getting escorted into the jury general assembly room for orientation with his fellow civil servants.

Shortly after lunch—Pitt dined solo on a special delivery of Subway, per TMZ—the star was assigned to serve on the type of case many of his contemporaries are already intimately familiar with: DUI. But the defendant reportedly struck a plea deal before Pitt and Co. could mete out their justice. The actor was subsequently dismissed for the day and won't be due back for another 18 months.

While Brad was doing his part for the community in Los Angeles, the rest of the Jolie-Pitt clan, no doubt still buzzing from Maddox's sixth birthday celebration last weekend, was bunkered down in Chicago, where Jolie is currently filming the action flick Wanted.
