Nolte Sued over House Party

Nick Nolte's new affliction: a lawsuit.

The onetime Prince of Tides is being sued by the parents of a teenage girl who allege their daughter was drugged and date-raped at Nolte's Malibu mansion two years ago.

The lawsuit, filed Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court, asserts that a security officer at Nolte's estate supplied the drug GHB, also known as liquid Ecstacy, to two individuals during a Jan. 25, 2003 party.

According to the complaint, the two recipients--Nicholas Woodring and teen male--then slipped it to the 15-year-old girl to deliberately impair her judgment before Woodring sexually assaulted her. Neither the girl's name nor that of the minor defendant has been released due to their ages.

The complaint was filed against Nolte even though he was not home at the time. Woodring pleaded no contest in March to a felony count of unlawful sex with a minor and was sentenced to six months in prison, according to Jane Robison, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

The girl's parents claim that Nolte was negligent because he was "aware of [his security guard and the unnamed male defendant's] propensity...for providing alcohol and/or drugs to minor children" and "the use of these intoxicating substances for the purpose of gaining compliance to certain acts of sexual harassment."

According to the girl's attorney, Philip Dunn, the girl and her family decided to file their suit to hold Nolte responsible for creating the environment that led to the rape.

The suit claims Nolte tried to help cover up the videotaped assault and was aware that minors regularly threw drug- and booze-fueled parties.

The girl's family is seeking unspecified damages. Nolte is not the only target; the unnamed security guard is listed among several other defendants.

Nolte's publicist, Arnold Robinson, refutes allegations that the 63-year-old two-time Oscar nominee played a role in allowing the rape to happen.

"The incident happened nearly two years ago, when Mr. Nolte was not at the property," Robinson said in a statement. "It is our understanding that the individual responsible has been held accountable. Mr. Nolte was at the time, and still remains, concerned for the young lady's well-being."

Nolte has had his share of legal trouble in recent years. He was busted for a DUI in 2002 that resulted in an oft reprinted mug shot of the disheveled, Hawaiian shirt-sporting actor.

Prosecutors believed Nolte was jacked up on GHB at the time, claims vociferously disputed by the Affliction star's legal camp.

Nolte ended up pleading no contest to reduced charges and was placed on three years' probation and ordered to undergo drug counseling and random drug tests. He also completed a mandatory stint in rehab.

In a follow-up hearing last summer, a court-certified recovery specialist pronounced Nolte clean and sober.
