Nicole Kidman might just be in for the royal role of a lifetime.

Sources tell the Hollywood Reporter that the 44-year-old Australian access is in talks to play Grace Kelly in Grace of Monaco, an indie project based on the late actress turned princess.

The film isn't a biopic, but rather focuses on a six-month period in 1962 when Monaco got into a heated dispute with France. Although Princess Grace was still relatively new to her life as a royal, she worked to save the city-state from a coup.

Olivier Dahan, who directed Marion Cotillard in the Edith Piaf biopic La Vie en Rose, is helming Grace of Monaco. Cotillard won an Oscar for her role in the film.

Kelly passed away in 1982 after suffering a stroke and losing control of her car while driving, but interest in the star hasn't faded in the 30 years since her death.
