Nick & Jess Encounter Averted...Phew?

The Jan. 13 Cowboys loss to the Giants wasn't only a downer for Texans. Gossip columnists also lost out on a juicy sitch.
See, we just learned Nick Lachey is scheduled to perform at the Bud Bowl—featuring the W Scottsdale VIP celebrity lounge—on Super Bowl weekend. (Diddy, Snoop Dogg and Kid Rock are also on the bill.)
He'll also be hosting the charitable Super Skins Celebrity Golf Classic the day before the big game.
With Nick popping up all over the pigskin scene (for gigs booked long before anyone knew who would make it to the Super Bowl), a reunion with Jess would have been practically inevitable if Tony Romo and his boys had made it to the finals.
But now Nick and his squeeze, Vanessa Minnillo, can tailgate in peace, knowing there won't be any awkward run-ins with his ex and her quarterback beau.
Like we said, bad for Texas, bad for us...
