Nick Hogan Permitted to Drive...Sometimes

Hulk Hogan may know best, but here's hoping the Florida courts know what they're doing, too.

Less than four months after walking out of jail, where he served nearly five months for a DUI crash that left his passenger permanently disabled, Nick Hogan has been given a special business-only driver's permit allowing him to motor back and forth from work.

And that's where his joyriding ends, considering the 18-year-old's driver's license is technically suspended until 2011 as part of his punishment for the 2007 accident.

Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles spokeswoman Ann Nucatola told Tampa Bay's ABC Action News that Hogan is allowed to drive to and from his job—a privilege his lawyers had been arguing for—so long as he follows the restrictions to the letter.

Hogan was released Oct. 21 from a Pinellas County jail after serving 166 days of an eight-month sentence. He was also slapped with five years' probation and 500 hours of community service and had his license revoked for three years after pleading no contest to felony reckless driving.

UPDATE: According to the Tampa Bay Times, Hogan was granted early release from his five-year probation sentence, after having served roughly 80 percent of it. Judge Philip Federico said defendants are typically released from probation after half of their sentence as long as they have completed all their requirements.
