Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have adopted a new hometown.

In a joint red carpet appearance at the Golden Globe Awards on Monday, the twosome confirmed to Us Weekly they had relocated to New Orleans.

"We love it there," Jolie told the magazine. "The kids are going to go to school there. We're really looking forward to it."

Word of the assorted Jolie-Pitt's Big Easy move was first reported last week by E! Online Gossip Guru Ted Casablanca.

Pitt previously said in September that the family would be spending time in New Orleans while he was on location filming The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Now, the globetrotting duo has apparently decided to settle down in the bayou on a more permanent basis.

According to real estate records, Pitt and Jolie paid $3.5 million in cash for a six-bedroom home in the French Quarter, with plenty of space for five-year-old Maddox, two-year-old Zahara and seven-month-old Shiloh, not to mention any future additions to the family.

The property reportedly boasts a spiral staircase, an elevator, a gourmet kitchen, a large private courtyard, a separate two-story guest house and parking for two cars.

The couple was said to be hopeful that their move would help draw attention to the Gulf Coast's continued struggle to recover from the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina.

Pitt has already teamed up with nonprofit organization Global Green USA to jointly commission 20 eco-friendly homes in low-income neighborhoods that were hardest hit by the storm. Construction on the buildings is expected to begin this month.

Meanwhile, Jolie is reportedly optimistic that distancing herself from Hollywood will enable her to be less of a movie star and more of a soccer mom.

"She's interested in befriending normal moms so she can do things with the kids," an unnamed source told Us Weekly.

Though Pitt and Jolie have said they have no plans to marry anytime in the near future, they have both publicly expressed their desire to expand their brood, with Jolie stating they would be more likely to adopt the next time around.

"Yes, we have Shiloh, and it's been a wonderful experience, but we want to find another brother or sister in the world for our family," Jolie told Diane Sawyer in an interview last month.

At the Golden Globes on Monday, Pitt joked with E! News' Ryan Seacrest about the couple's family-planning strategy.

"We're thinking soccer team. World Cup. We are going to start our own country and enter the World Cup—and dominate," Pitt said.
