New Drug Mess for Moss Man

Fresh off a costarring role in the Kate Moss cocaine scandal, Pete Doherty is in trouble for his encore.

The sobriety-challenged baby-faced British rocker has been busted on suspicion of drug possession.

His publicist confirmed that Doherty was arrested early Wednesday in London.

The Metropolitan Police, who declined to identify the singer by name, said they pulled over a 26-year-old man matching Doherty's description for driving in an "erratic manner."

"He was arrested for alleged possession of Class A drugs [and] was taken to a west London police station," authorities said.

The Class A category includes cocaine, heroin and methamphetamines. According to British news reports, police found rock cocaine and a crack pipe in Doherty's vehicle.

Doherty was booked and eventually released on bail. He is due back in court in January.

If convicted on the possession charge, he could face up to seven years in prison and a substantial fine.

Doherty, who now fronts the band Babyshambles after getting booted from the Libertines for his bad behavior, is already facing drug charges.

He was detained on Oct. 1, following a raid on a Babyshambles gig by authorities in Shrewsbury, England. Police reportedy seized Ecstasy, LSD, cocaine and heroin. But the raid hardly fazed Doherty, who after his 12-hour incarceration, joked with reporters before heading to a pub.

In a rambling interview with Britain's Sun, Doherty said his on-off relationship with Moss was off again after he failed to complete drug rehab at the same Arizona facility she was treated earlier this year.

Doherty reportedly checked into the Meadows Clinic on Nov. 19 and lasted just nine days, much to the disappointment of Moss who successfully completed the five-week program and was picking up Doherty's bill.

"I don't know how she stuck through five weeks, because I was bored senseless," he told the paper, comparing the experience of sharing a room with two strangers to a "prison."

Moss, who still faces a police investigation in London, is putting her career back together in the wake of the drug mess. The 31-year-old supermodel has been working steadily since exiting treatment.

As for his own less than model behavior, Doherty blames the latest arrest on bad timing.

"Me and [my friend] were off to bury the stuff by my grandfather's grave in West London--to draw a line under our drug-taking days," he told the Sun. "We were just unlucky to get pulled over."
