Prepare for battle!

Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgård, Liam Neeson and Rihanna are taking to the high seas to protect us from a deadly alien (yes, alien) force that clearly has its eyes set on taking over the world.

Um, was that in the board game? And will we be able to figure out their coordinates?

If you're hoping to hear phrases like "B, 5!" and "You sank my battleship!" in director Peter Berg's big-screen adaptation of the beloved game, all we can say is, Sorry. (Pun, possibly intended...)

Once again, Kitsch finds himself playing a screw-up. In fact, he's such a screw-up that Neeson has no idea what his daughter, Brooklyn Decker, who does a great job of standing on the shore watching boats go by, sees in him.

Naturally, this is all a misunderstanding. All he needs is a situation to prove himself. Cue the aliens. When Skarsgård in all his Naval officer glory gives Kitsch the order to investigate a mysterious craft at sea, things quickly turn from naval exercise into a Transformers-meets-Armageddon-meets-beer-commercial fiasco. At least the alien ammunition kinda looks like the original pegs from the game.
