The Need for Speed...Racer

The publicity machine is revving up big time for the Speed Racer movie, due to hit theaters May 9. And one of our fave blogs, Just Jared, just posted a full batch of sleek new character posters. Not only do we get Emile Hirsch as hurtling hero Speed and Christina Ricci as his glamorous grease-rat gal Trixie (above), there are several others as well, including Lost hunk/hunk of wood Matthew Fox as Speed’s rival Racer X.
Who knows if this huge, hulking, quasi-anime action movie can channel the weirdly whirring spirit of the old-school Saturday-morning cartoon. But it’ll either be an amazing pedal-to-the-metal spectacle or a spectacular crash and burn.
Meaning, we won’t be able to look away.
