Naomi Nabbed in London
Naomi Campbell is dangerously close to losing the "super" part of her supermodel moniker.
The long-legged,short-tempered lovely returned to a central London police station Thursday, just one day after she was arrested on suspicion of assault.
Campbell has not been charged, though she was held for questioning and bailed to return to the station this morning. The lawsuit-friendly model again posted bail and was ordered to return on an undisclosed date in December.
"We believe there has been a misunderstanding," Outside Organization, which represents Campbell, said in a statement. "Once police have investigated we are sure this will be resolved satisfactorily."
The alleged victim, identied by The Sun tabloid as the model's female drug counselor, filed a police report stating that she had been attacked by Campbell at the cover girl's Westminster home.
"Officers attended the address," a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said. "A woman aged 36 was arrested at approximately 1:20 p.m. for an alleged assault and taken to a central London police station."
Britain's Sky News was the first to report that it was Campbell who was detained. The police still have not released Campbell's name in connection with the altercation, standard procedure across the pond. Authorities typically do not release the name of a suspect until they are formally charged.
A spokesman for the supermodel, who was discovered in London at the age of 15, assured the BBC News that "we are sure it will all be sorted out" following an investigation.
At least Campbell's lawyers have something to tide them over until her pending assault case in New York is revisited Nov. 15. She is facing a misdemeanor assault charge for allegedly thwacking her former housekeeper, Ana Scolavino, on the head with a crystal-studded Blackberry in March after the maid couldn't find a pair of her employer's designer jeans. Campbell's facing a maximum of one year in prison if convicted.
