My Interview with a Goddess: Halle Berry in Perfect Stranger

Yes, my job rocks. Any loyal Lyons Den reader knows it—I'll be the first to admit that. But just like any gig, there are days when it becomes a job. It is "work" after all, right? Well, folks, this was not one of those days. This was the day I interviewed Halle Berry. (Sure, and Giovanni Ribisi was there, too. I think. Maybe.)

Now, this woman is a goddess. Not only is she blessed with beautiful looks and a warm demeanor, but the woman can act. She's got the Oscar to prove it. And in Perfect Stranger, she's able to make what could otherwise be a horrendous movie...watchable. Even borderline enjoyable.

A couple of things I do dig about the movie:

  1. It was shot entirely in NYC, which always make me happy. Drives me nuts when they shoot in Canada but say it's New York.
  2. They shot three different endings, so audiences wouldn't catch on to all the twists ahead of time. Fun little trick.

This time around, Halle's working with director James Foley, who's not the biggest name in the business but has directed one of the great films of all time, Glengarry Glen Ross. If you haven't seen the film, based on the David Mamet play and starring Alec Baldwin, Al Pacino and Kevin Spacey, do me a favor and log off right now and watch it.

Now back to Perfect Stranger. Check the clip to see me drooling, fawning and gazing at Berry—easily in the top five moments of my life.

And don't forget, coffee is for closers.
