And you thought your credit-card companies stunk? In this British, Hindi-language moral fable, a warlord's warrior (Irfan Khan) is sent on a mission to murder innocent villagers who fall behind in their debts. Yet a crisis of conscience causes Khan to renounce violence and refuse his duty, so
another warrior is sent to put him in the red, so to speak.
Even though it clocks in at under 90 minutes,
Warrior feels like an epic, thanks to gorgeous cinematography and minimal dialogue. But the point is as clear as the breathtaking vistas: Corrupt and powerful rulers are to be resisted for the sake of humanity. And that makes this period piece as current as any rabble-rousing political documentary.
