Hell hath no fury like a woman experimented on. In the second adaptation of the
Resident Evil videogame series, zombie-zapping heroine
Milla Jovovich wakes up to find herself in the middle of a war between the undead and regular folks. Oh, and she's part of a shady corporation's evil experiments, a secret weapon is on the loose, and the city she's in is scheduled for nuclear destruction.
What a bad day! Luckily, she has heightened, uh,
videogame-like abilities and shoot-first-and-talk-later cop Sienna Guillory and streetwise hustler Mike Epps on her side. Game boys will appreciate the direct lifts from the source material and Jovovich's ability to embody this kick-ass role (not to mention her not-so-shy flashes of skin). But there are plot holes bigger than a shotgun blast through a brain-chomper's noggin, and other zombie flicks have upped the ante that
Apocalypse falls shy of conquering. It's okay but just slightly catatonic.
