Call it
Wingless Migration. This heartwarming documentary covers a chilly subject: the love life of the emperor penguin, a creature and topic both cuter and stranger than a Hello Kitty convention. Every year, this Antarctic species endures a ludicrously complicated and dangerous series of rituals necessary for the production of baby penguins.
(Random jaw-dropping factoid: Male emperor penguins go without food for
four months while nurturing a single egg...which they balance on their feet.) Director Luc Jacquet's striking cinematography almost brings the bleak Antarctic landscape to life, and
Morgan Freeman's narration, while completely unnecessary, lends the film some storybook style. So, step to it yourself and see this film already.
