Once upon a time, a 15th-century princess (López de Ayala) falls for a Fabio-esque hottie (Liotti). But wedded bliss goes amiss when she learns of her hunky hubby's philandering. Even though she is crowned the new queen of Castile, her king keeps waving his, um, scepter around the castle. But even that can't help the reign in Spain from remaining plain, as the queen's obsessive jealousy prevents anything interesting from happening.
Still, the actors are beautiful, the photography lush and the production design sumptuous. But for all the high-court histrionics, this royally flushes.
Mad Love, forsooth, is bad love.
