Ladies and gents, the
King has entered the cineplex. Amazing, stunning and, well, a bunch of other gushy words, the climactic end to the epic trilogy finds the war for Middle Earth ramping up, the members of the Fellowship continuing their pivotal roles and Frodo, Sam and Gollum drawing ever closer to the end of their quest to take care of that troublesome ring.
Director
Peter Jackson does a masterful job of lording over this out-of-this-world journey, making it massive and overwhelming when it calls for it (like during the battles) but also detailed enough to supply wow moments around every corner (like that tense Shelob chase). Not to mention he and the cast caress a surprising amount of tearjerking emotion out of a bunch of characters with furry feet. An excellent conclusion and a triumph of filmmaking, this journey may be at an end--oh boy, what a way to go.
