Heaven help us if we can't enjoy a nice romantic comedy without trying to overanalyze it. Expecting a dose of reality from a film dealing with a spirit who talks to (oh, and falls in love with) living humans isn't the point here. But the effortless charm of both
Reese Witherspoon and
Mark Ruffalo is. Yes, she's a ghost, and he meets her by moving into her former San Francisco apartment.
And they fall for each other in that predictable but sweet way. It's silly, madcap and mushy, and it even throws in Napoleon Dynamite himself,
Jon Heder, acting like, well, a Napoleon Dynamite who can see dead people for a few laughs.
Heaven is undeniably sweet, even if one's not all here...metaphorically speaking, of course.
