The Human Stain

B-
Stain isn't spotless. In fact there are few flaws--like strange casting decisions and some rushed moments--in this adaptation of Philip Roth's bestselling novel. But we can't tell you about those, because that would ruin the story. However, we can let you know that Anthony Hopkins and Nicole Kidman give slow-burn performances as two damaged people thrown into a May-December relationship. Kidman's dealing with a past of bad men, and Hopkins is dealing with a lifelong dark secret. This is a personal drama takes its sweet time and is especially enticing when newcomer Wentworth Miller (who plays the younger version of Hopkins' character) comes into the picture. By the end, you will care about the people here. And that's enough to leave a good impression.
