Dog poop plays a central role in director Barry Levinson's latest misfire, so it should be no surprise that this whole thing is a piece of crap. In the flimsy comedy, flaky entrepreneur
Jack Black has become filthy rich inventing a spray that makes doo-doo disappear, while neighbor and best pal
Ben Stiller--who didn't want to invest in the invention,
Va-poo-rize--stews with jealousy.
The
poo-posterous plot is only saved by funny moments from always wacky
Christopher Walken as a wanderer who helps Stiller deal with his issues (and gets him in even more trouble, naturally). Black, restrained enough in
School of Rock, is too brash here. And Stiller, who--how can we put this nicely?--has just been in too many movies already this year, phones in his go-to stammering-guy performance. Flush the whole thing.
